Vista 上市了， Microsoft 也花了不少錢在許多電視頻道上狂打廣告。

我的桌上型電腦之前被我作成 Windows XP ＆ Windows 2003 雙系統。
昨晚我把桌上型電腦的 Windows 2003 洗掉，改裝 Windows Vista Ultimate （在台灣叫 Windows Vista 旗艦版 ）。

不過我很快就發現到這幾點問題：

• 它沒有內建 Creative SB Live! 的驅動程式。
• 新的網路元件使得我家的 IP 不斷自動重開。
• 我沒辦法用桌上型電腦看電視了，因為我找不到 康博啟視錄 U890 的 Vista 版驅動程式與應用程式。

很慶幸地，我的 GeForce 6200 可以讓我順暢的使用 Aero （包括 Flip3D ）。

幸好我是把 Windows 2003 洗掉，而我還能切換回 Windows XP ，不然我就得再重灌一遍了。

坦白說，我一向很欣賞 nVidia 的驅動程式包裝方式。
nVidia 的驅動程式一向都能自動偵測硬體，自動安裝需要的驅動程式，而新版本的作業系統支援速度也相當快。

許多顧客與廠商愈來愈要求售後服務水準，而 nVidia 的驅動程式包裝方式應該可以說是台灣許多硬體廠商需要效法的目標。

因為前幾天幫人家弄這個東西, 所以順便記錄一下.

Windows 2000 / 2003 的 PAE 不難搞定, 可以參考 這裡.
要注意的是, 如果主機板不支援的話, 多丟 /PAE 進去可能會爛掉.

FreeBSD 的 PAE 則是要參考 /sys/i386/conf/PAE 這個檔案.
我覺得這邊頗難搞, 主要是因為只要我用 PAE kernel , 開機時 twa0 ( 3ware 9500S-4LP ) 就會爛掉 .... orz
又因為我把系統裝在 RAID 5 上面, 所以開不了機, 而且就算是用原本的 kernel 開, 也找不到之前開機失敗的 boot message 了.
在 5.4 上面, 死掉的原因是 driver 與 firmware 版本不符.
在 6.0 上面則是跑出一堆 error , 然後一直 reset controller .

因為那台機器用的是 Athlon64 , 所以我覺得..
直接丟 AMD64 版本的 FreeBSD 給機器吃可能會比較好吧?
再找時間過去玩看看...

剛剛看到 這篇 :

微軟周六發佈公告指出，遠端桌面協定(Remote Desktop Protocol, RDP)的一項瑕疵，將使Windows 2000、Windows XP與Windows Server 2003都可能遭到阻斷服務(DoS, denial of service)攻擊。

不過, 目前似乎還沒有 patch .

微軟表示修補程式還在加緊完成中，但指出還沒有發現任何利用該項弱點的攻擊行為。但上周六The SANS Institute的安全專家已發現針對RDP使用之傳輸埠的掃瞄活動有增加趨勢。這可能是駭客蠢蠢欲動的跡象之一。

不過, 我身邊好像不少人都有在用.
雖然這個漏洞看起來不像 SQL slammer , 疾風那麼恐怖, 不過還是得注意一下.

剛剛看到 Longhorn驚喜：死亡紅幕 .

軟體業霸主微軟公司將在下一版的Windows作業系統，為傳奇的「死亡藍幕」（Blue Screen of Death）提供一個獨特的解決方案 – 「死亡紅幕」。

正在測試Longhorn系統的微軟技術人員兼網誌作者Michael Kaplan表示，除了死亡藍幕之外，使用者還將面對紅色威脅。Kaplan說，「死亡紅幕」比「死亡藍幕」更上一層，代表你的電腦發生更嚴重、更致命的錯誤。

剛剛看到 這篇 .

微軟在週二的每月例行軟體更新裡，發表了一堆安全修補程式，其中有五個屬「重大」（critical）等級。

這次的軟體更新裡有五個「重大」等級的修補程式，相關的軟體包括了Windows的TCP/IP網路、IE、MSN Messenger，Office，及Exchange Server等。「重大」等級也是微軟的安全評等中威脅程度最高的等級。其他另有三個Widnows安全漏洞修補程式則屬次一級危險程度的「重要」（important）更新。

微軟承諾將銷售Itanium版的Longhorn 伺服器軟體，以作為英特爾和微軟合作推動執行在高階處理器上的Windows 市場行動的一部分。

絕大部分Windows作業系統都執行在主流x86 處理器上，如英特爾Xeon或AMD的Opteron。由於Itanium處理器的非相容性，導致該高階晶片未獲得廣泛應用，所以微軟先前對Itanium的支持並不積極。

現在情況已經有了轉變。微軟正在沿用英特爾和惠普結盟的例子，希望借Itanium打開自己的伺服器市場--銷售能夠處理關鍵任務的多處理器伺服器。

我不清楚台灣這邊有多少廠商使用 Itanium 平台 ( 我猜應該不多吧, 甚至根本沒有..:shock: ) .
不過, 我還是覺得 Itanium 很難打出好市場...XD
